24 Days and Counting

From May 1, 2011

Happy May 1st! Just 24 more days until Eyes in Atlantis is released and only 20 more days until the release event! I'm excited to be bringing this story mainstream. I can't help but to reflect at this point about the path that has led me to this point. So, here's a reflection blog. I really can't remember the exact moment that I began Eyes in Atlantis. It was some time in late 2004, so it's been nearly a seven year journey. I spent some time recently looking back over my notes from the beginning of the process, and it is amazing to me how different the end story is from its original concept. In the finished version, the main characters go back in time, but the original outline had Atlantis existing as an isolated country in modern times. That idea still sounds cool, but the end version is way better. There have been so many changes, including my last minute decision to change to the point of view for the entire novel. Some characters who were going to die have been given reprieves and some who were to survive may meet an untimely end. I've feel like I've blogged a lot about the book, so I won't go into details about the evolution of the story. One thing that you may notice is that I've taken down the "Eyes in Atlantis Blog" that I developed when I first brought the book out into the light. There are two reasons for this: 1) with the book's release coming soon, I don't want too many details about the plot floating around. I want you guys to be surprised. After the release, I may post some of the old blogs here to give you insight into the plot lines. There are also two short stories that I wrote aside from the book that I will post here after the release. 2) I have an actual website now for the book. www.EyesInAtlantis.com was launched a little over a month ago. Any news or goodies surrounding the book will be posted either there or here. Right now, I'm finishing up a yoga workshop at the Himalayan Institute in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. After my drive back to Michigan tomorrow, I will be working diligently on last minute details. There's still a lot to do, but I have faith and determination that I will get it all done. Here's to wishing you a wonderful May! GMG, author
